The Next Step Skills Clinic

Pre Requisites: This program requires paddlers to be comfortable making basic moves on class II Whitewater. A roll is a benefit though not necessary, we ask people come with the ability to try and roll and be comfortable with assisted rescues (t-rescue, hand of god etc)

Outline: This course, although run on Class II/II+ will require participants to have confidence on this level of water. The instruction philosophy is hard moves in easier Whitewater so when you push up in difficulty it all comes naturally. In this program we will take the basic skills of eddy turns, ferries etc and build on them to create more confident, versatile and reliable versions of these fundamental skills. The 2 hour (on water) session will be drill intensive and we will likely use a very short section of river in order to repeat drills until participants feel really comfortable.

Clinic Size:  6 participants
Meeting Time: 8:30am at the Aquabatics Calgary Booth
Finish Time: Noon at the Aquabatics Booth
Gear included: Boats available on request
Gear Requirements from all participants: Appropriate paddling clothing for the weather and water conditions, paddling footwear, PFD, helmet, spray skirt, paddle, float bags (at least one per boat), river running style kayak is preferred (ideally not playboats)

Note: A waiver will be required to be completed prior to the course. Please be on time so paperwork doesn’t interfere with time on the water.
